DEAR ADDICTION!!!

I grew up with you in my neighborhood, mothers loved you best.
Every street corner hot, your methods, operations relentless,
apartments, homes & clubs were strong holds & I still thank God, I wasn't too curious,
I remember Anthony always missed class but he missed you most, meeting up around the avenue, just to be with you.
Then there was James he never missed an opportunity either, but one day he did a swan dive, thought he could fly, but he missed the street and hit the curb side.

How can I ever forget, your best friend Desiree,
endless conversations hoping her eyes open, life is worth living. I never had a degree but God's gift was evident in me. I didn't know it then but I was training to be your fiercest enemy. Desiree, Desiree don't let the appeal draw you.

I always heard stories about friends hiding from their parents because being too hi was an excuse to beat their children.
So if that wasn't enough, there was always someone around, to buy for the young, 2%...5%...keep going till you drowsy, 300% proof is not the goal you wanna reach, yah gonna drop dead, stop it.

I've seen people change like a magician on stage, always screaming like their wearing
hearing aids. Poor kids are confused, lacking confidence & self-esteem, they blame themselves for their parents mishaps and return the favor by joining the cycle.
I never understood the sniffing of aerosol cans but they knew you and loved to hang out in the cleaning aisle.
You lied and told them it's a way of escape from pain and depressive thoughts but how is that so, you always set them up to crash & burn at the end of their trip.
No matter whom you took for a ride, you always found a way to involve others to make sacrifices they never knew existed.
I always kept my distance, your poison spread domestic & abroad.
The streets were consumed by your methods, you even managed to influence art forms of music, dance and laughter & created your own symbols marked by your victims.
The hardest hit victims are memorized by your effectiveness especially the way you defiled & tainted the beauty & elegance of intimacy, your like a drink designed for drunkeness, no love ingredients, but good for exposure of feelings & regrets.
Well, enough of you, hear Christ word on defeating your appeal & temptation.

1 Corinthians 10:13-14
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
